Students wishing to achieve the RYA Yachtmaster Ocean Theory certificate should be at Coastal/Yachtmaster Theory level with their existing theory. Apart from a thorough knowledge of position fixing and plotting the course requires a good understanding of latitude and longitude.
The Yachtmaster Ocean Theory course is for those who have a passion for sailing and navigation. It is a wonderful course that will keep you occupied for hours on end.
It is not just about finding position from the starts and planets, it covers weather, passage planning, watch keeping and much more.
The course takes approximately 40 hours to complete with an assessment of 2 parts taken in one sitting of 2 hours.
Invigilated Assessments
These can be offered for free to anyone who books an online course with us and who requires an invigilated assessment for a commercial endorsement or as a Master 200 prerequisite. We can also arrange invigilated assessments at our sites around the country, or elsewhere in the world, at a cost.
