RYA Start Motor Cruising
An introduction to Motor Cruising with the aim of being a useful crew member and being able to assist the helm. Ideal for introducing family and friends to crewing a motor boat or for anyone looking at working on a boat but have little or no experience.
Duration of 1 day with a cost of £200 inclusive of VAT.
RYA Helmsman Course
This course is an ideal introduction for new owners or crew. Covers subjects such as types of craft, engines and drives, engine operation and checks, basic seamanship, safety, boat handling, man overboard and coming alongside.
Duration of 2 days. Price £400 inclusive of VAT.
RYA Day Skipper Power Course
This course is for new skippers who intend to undertake short passages in familiar waters by day. It covers boat handling, navigation and skippering techniques to run your own boat. You should also have 2 days of practical experience on a motor cruiser. The course can be combined with the Helmsman course into a 5-day training package.

RYA Coastal Skipper Power Course
A more advanced course to build upon boat handling to the standard of the Day Skipper motor and navigation to the standard of the Coastal Skipper/Yachtmaster theory. Covers topics such as passage planning, preparation for sea, pilotage, passage making and ability as a skipper, radar, boat handling, adverse weather conditions and emergency situations.
Duration of 5 days. Price £1000 inclusive of VAT.
RYA MCA Yachtmaster Coastal / Offshore CoC Power Preparation
The 5 Day Course is for those requiring preparation for either the RYA MCA Yachtmaster Coastal or Offshore Certificates of Competence. The aim is to teach the skills & techniques required to skipper a Motor Cruiser safely on coastal & offshore passages by day & night. There is no fixed syllabus for this course. We try to focus on areas that you need to work on, and that the examiners tend to look at during the exam. We go through usual preparation subjects such as radar, boat handling, day and night pilotage, passage making, meteorology, IRPCS, engines, emergencies and using tides. The exams are taken at the end of the preparation course.
Duration of 4 days preparation and 1 day exam. Price of £800 per person inclusive of VAT, plus RYA MCA exam fees to be paid separately (currently £185 for Coastal, £215 for Offshore).
